Job Summary:

As an L&I Industrial Hygienist you will perform routine and complex work place inspections and investigations for all types of occupational health hazards. Inspections are conducted in all industries to determine compliance with the Division of Occupational Safety & Health (DOSH) worker safety and health standards to prevent occupational illness and disease. You will be primarily responsible for standards that address health hazards as may be presented by noise and chemical exposure.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

Industrial Hygienist level 3:

Bachelor's degree involving major study in: occupational safety and/or health, industrial hygiene, sciences, nursing, medicine, or related field

AND

Three years of experience as an Industrial Hygienist.

A Master's degree involving major study in industrial hygiene or related field will substitute for one year of industrial hygiene experience.

Industrial Hygienist level 2:

Bachelor's degree involving major study in: occupational safety and/or health, industrial hygiene, sciences, nursing, medicine, or related field

AND

One year of experience as an Industrial Hygienist, Safety & Health Officer, Safety & Health Consultant or other related scientific or safety and health work.

A Master's degree involving major study in industrial hygiene or related field will substitute for one year of industrial hygiene experience.

Responsibilities

The Safety Manager, U.S. Refining reports to the Manager, HS&E, U.S. Refining. The purpose of this position is to coordinate Safety, Occupational Health and Loss Prevention programs throughout U.S.

Challenges include risk assessment for infectious agents and biological toxins; review of research proposals to protect employee safety, public health and the environment; training of laboratory personnel in biosafety principles; coordinating activities of the Institutional Biosafety Committee; addressing the risks of new research in select agents and biotechnology; and the broad responsibility to ensure compliance with State and Federal regulations pertaining to biological hazards.
